Having a custom quilt made is the ideal way to create something that is ideally suited for your home, nursery, or the style of the quilt's recipient. After purchase, I will work with you closely to select colors, fabrics, and a design that is either drawn from my repertoire or another source of inspiration. The end result is a unique piece of home decor that will be a part of your everyday life for years to come.
I make the majority of my quilts tops with shot cotton fabrics, an especially soft and lightweight cotton with differently colored warps and wefts that result in a rich and dimensional hue. I am also able to work with kona cottons and peppered cottons, depending on the colors and designs of the quilts I'm creating. I primarily use minky sherpa for quilt backings since it is especially soft and cuddly, but can also use solid cottons or other specially requested fabrics. Quilt tops are machine pieced.
All quilt battings are 100% cotton and low-loft, resulting in quilts that are warm but that also drape nicely.
Quilts are 'stitched in the ditch' so that the quilting stitches are hidden in the patchwork seams, but still add dimension and definition to the pattern.
I bind my quilts with a corresponding cotton fabric, using a combination of machine and hand sewing.
The turnaround time for custom quilts varies depending upon size and design, but I do my best to accommodate any deadlines you may have. Quilts come packaged with love in a cotton drawstring bag.
